Psychologist | Educator | Consultant.
Meet Dr. Mary Lindahl, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with more than 30 years of experience.
I offer therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families, using a variety of modalities such as: psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family systems and play therapy. As we work collaboratively, I tailor therapy that helps keep you focused on achieving your goals.
The decision to seek therapy can be a difficult one, so if you are facing problems that are affecting your daily life and happiness, you have come to the right place for a comfortable, accessible, and compassionate experience.
In high school, I began to realize how interesting people are, and after college, decided to make psychology my life’s work. I completed a Ph.D. in psychology and human development from the University of Chicago, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at Duke University, where I also taught psychology to undergraduates.
In addition to my private practice, I’m a professor of psychology at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, preparing forensic and legal psychology graduate students to work in counseling and the legal system. Teaching has been an inspiring and rewarding part of my work.
I love to travel internationally, and frequently take classes of Marymount students to study conflict resolution, human rights, and strategies for building resilience in children who have experienced trauma. We have traveled to England, Israel, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic.
I am a Life Status member of the American Psychological Association, and a member of the Association for Humanistic Psychology, the Association for Moral Education, and ChildFund International.
